Today’s Daily Stoic writing prompt: What am I blaming on chance or luck that’s really on me?

As some previous meditations have stated clearly, it’s all about what you can control. For instance, I can’t necessarily control what I will likely be entering into on Monday as I start hunting a vaccine appointment, but I can control my reaction or frustration about any delays. I know that right now, it’s crazy. I may luck into something quickly, or it may take awhile, but it will happen. It can’t take over my whole life, but on the other hand, I’ll want to make a good effort. I’m all set up with the Vaccine Hunters Discord server, and to be honest, I don’t necessarily want an immediate appointment–if I get the second dose about 10 weeks after the first one, I think that’ll be about right.

Also, on the vaccine front: Canadian health authorities are now pretty much backing away from giving second doses of Astra Zeneca. I had been leaning towards looking for an mRNA vax, anyway, so this will likely cement that. Case counts remain in the mid-300s again today.

Apparently the universe didn’t want me to get my glasses until next week, anyway. When I called to make the appointment for pickup, the earliest they could do it was Monday.

Luke Ranieri has done a short piece on the Latin in the latest installment of Loki, and it is amazing. Not only does Tom Hiddleston (who has a classics background, apparently, yet another reason to love him) do an excellent job with the pronunciation, the translation itself is outstanding.
